This is an easy to moderate 25 30 mile hike which serves as a terrific introduction for what big sur hiking has to. Valley view trail is open. Google street view please note. There were some bugs but not too bad.
Pfeiffer falls trail is closed due to construction. As with anything in big sur pfeiffer state park is crazy beautiful. Sur and andrew molera state park. This 16 mile round trip trail climbs a moderate strenuous 750 feet through a redwood and oak woodland to a fork in the trail.
Close to monterey peninsula golf courses carmel big sur and all the beauty on the monterey peninsula. Valley view overlook closed is a 18 mile heavily trafficked out and back trail located near big sur california that features a waterfall and is rated as moderate. Also some bugs but not too bad. Take the left fork to the valley view overlook where you will be rewarded with a tremendous view of the big sur river valley point sur and andrew molera state park.
I enjoyed this hike but not as much as others in big sur. I would skip this hike. The valley view trail is located 16 miles from big sur california ca in pfeiffer big sur state park. Took me 45 minutes and there is a nice view at the top but otherwise nothing special about this one.
Big valley view home. Length 18 mi elevation gain 554 ft route type out back. Take the left fork and climb another 300 feet to the valley view overlook where you will be rewarded with a tremendous view of the big sur river valley pt. It is nestled in the non coastal side of big sur right when you leave the beaches on highway 1 for the rolling green forest all before returning to the beach near bixby bridge.
